Encouraging a Deeper relationship with our Savior through the study of God’s word

Hi friends, I’m Kat. My heartfelt desire is to help others discover a passion for studying God’s word. A few years ago, I was really struggling to maintain a consistent and intentional practice of studying Scripture. I prayed that the Holy Spirit would increase my desire to study the Bible, and the next thing I knew I was back in school getting an MA in Biblical Studies. I realize this path is not for everyone, but I firmly believe that God’s word is for everyone. Each one of us can develop a genuine desire to grow closer to our triune God through the study of His incredible gift to us: the Bible. I also believe that God’s Word should guide our everyday life. Therefore, you will find that some of my blogs consist of random musings about daily life, while others are of a more exegetical nature.

I believe that the only sure way to move to a joyful place of knowing we are seen, loved, and significant is through a solid Biblical understanding of who we are as children of God and how Christ’s death and resurrection took us from a place of defeat to a place of grace, victory, and purpose. I pray that this website will provide resources and food for thought that truly encourage you to seek Him above all else.

However, once I’ve pried my eyes open, removed my cats from where they have trapped me under the covers, and managed to finally plant my feet on the floor, I absolutely love early mornings. The world is quiet and any potential uproar which the continue reading

  • Revelation uses this name for Jesus in chapters 5 and 22. In Rev 5:5, one of the elders around the heavenly throne tells John not to weep, because “the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.”1 In Rev 22:16, continue reading

  • Lion of Judah

Lions are not docile, tame creatures. They are powerful and capable. Even a resting or sleeping lion exudes a sense of confidence and supremacy. In The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, C. S. Lewis captures the essence of the lion’s prowess in Mr. Beaver’s response to Susan when she asks if Aslan the lion continue reading

  • Communion…The Lord’s Supper…The Breaking of Bread…The Blessed Sacrament… The Eucharist. So many terms for the same celebration! I grew up in a Protestant Christian home. We usually referred to the Lord’s Supper as “Communion.” I appreciate that term, as it brings to mind the act of partaking in the Lord’s Supper with the community of continue reading
