Hi friends, I’m Kat. My heartfelt desire is to help others discover a passion for studying God’s word. A few years ago, I was really struggling to maintain a consistent and intentional practice of studying Scripture. I prayed that the Holy Spirit would increase my desire to study the Bible, and the next thing I knew I was back in school getting an MA in Biblical Studies. I realize this path is not for everyone, but I firmly believe that God’s word is for everyone. Each one of us can develop a genuine desire to grow closer to our triune God through the study of His incredible gift to us: the Bible. I also believe that God’s Word should guide our everyday life. Therefore, you will find that some of my blogs consist of random musings about daily life, while others are of a more exegetical nature.
I believe that the only sure way to move to a joyful place of knowing we are seen, loved, and significant is through a solid Biblical understanding of who we are as children of God and how Christ’s death and resurrection took us from a place of defeat to a place of grace, victory, and purpose. I pray that this website will provide resources and food for thought that truly encourage you to seek Him above all else.

As the campaign season progressed, both parties became more and more vehement in their predictions of the terrible things that would happen continue reading
“Oh, there’s no place like home for the holidays.” For many, the lyrics to this old Christmas song ring true. The word “home” conjures memories of loving family members, the warm kitchen scented by recently baked pies, laughter around the dinner table, after-dinner board games, and all-around fun. For many though, this isn’t what “home” continue reading
Well laddies and lassies, it has been a wee while since I wrote a blog! Since my last blog, I have retired from the field of medicine, moved from New Mexico to Washington (state, not DC), and gone on a much-needed real vacation with my besties to…you guessed it, Scotland. Meanwhile, the topic for this continue reading
About fifteen years ago, Leon Patillo released a beautiful praise song called Star of the Morning. I still absolutely love that song. I admit that at the time the song was released, I was not studying the Bible with nearly as much intention as I do now. Furthermore, until recently I avoided studying the book continue reading
